CLASS DESCRIPTION: 

Students will follow the 8th grade English curriculum with additional instruction in reading through an intensive computer/reading program.  Students will:

  • A Raisin in the Sun
  • Persuasive essay
  • Independent writing pieces

 

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Come to class prepared and ready to participate.

 

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be responsible, respectful and safe

 

GRADING:

  • Read and pass quiz or assessment on 10 books
  • Daily Assignments
  • Writing projects
  • Class participation
  • Computer component (vocabulary, reading comprehension, fluency,spelling)
  • Reading log
  • Planner is filled out every day and signed by parent every week

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Bring your silent reading book to class everyday.
  • Notebook
  • Student planner
  • Pen/pencil
  • Markers or crayons and other art supplies as needed
  • Sense of humor
